Ethyl Orthoformate
Used in the conversion of carbonyl compounds to acetals and as a source of the diethoxycarbenium ions useful in the diethoxymethylenation of ketones to give beta-ketoaldehydes. Also used in reaction with acrylamines to give ethoxymethylene (imidic esters)
